(COLORADO SPRINGS) — With the continuing government shutdown potentially impacting even more families, seniors, and veterans in Southern Colorado, iiCON Construction and Gunslinger Brewing are combining efforts to host a food drive for this holiday season.
The event is titled ‘Built to Serve. Brewed to Give.’ and will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 12, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Gunslinger Brewing, located at 318 East Colorado Avenue. Those who donate will receive a special thank-you gift from the brewing company.
If those donating bring five pounds of food, or $5 cash, they will receive a token good for a $5 pint from Gunslinger Brewing: a $2.50 discount from a beer’s usual price. Every $1 donated will help Care and Share Food Bank provide three pounds of food for those in need. The event’s goal is to collect 150 pounds of food and $500 in donations to supply over 1,500 pounds of food across Southern Colorado.
iiCON Construction explains that the most requested items are canned fruits and vegetables, canned meat or tuna, peanut butter, cereal, and oatmeal. All donations will go directly to Care and Share Southern Colorado. Guests can make monetary donations either by cash or electronically through their phones.
Gunslinger Brewing will also be raffling away free gifts and prizes during the event.
“This is a casual, drop-in-style event,” said Uriah Kimmig, Director of Business Development at iiCON Construction. “People can stop by, donate, have a beer, and leave whenever they need to. Every act of generosity makes a real impact for our neighbors this holiday season.”
