Give! Campaign 2023: Palmer Land Conservancy

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — It is time once again for the GIVE! Campaign and FOX21 News is helping out by highlighting local organizations that need your help.

Astrid Monar, Membership and Events Manager for Palmer Land Conservancy, joined FOX21 Morning News Anchor Abbie Burke on Monday, Dec. 4, to discuss the organization and how it protects and preserves land and water in Southern Colorado.

Since 1977, Palmer Land Conservancy has worked with the community to protect 138,000 acres of land including some of the area’s most popular parks and open spaces, like Red Rock Canyon Open Space, Ute Valley Open Space and Paint Mines Interpretive Park. The Conservancy also protects working farms and ranches, and iconic scenic views to ensure that they are here today and forever.

As the Pikes Peak Region continues to grow in popularity, the Palmer Land Conservancy has some big goals for conservation in the near future to maintain the qualities of Colorado that so many who choose to live here love and hold dear.

“The time to act for conservation is now,” said Monar. “Over the next five years, Palmer has some big, bold, and ambitious goals. We want to grow the number of acres from 130,000 to over 200,000.”
