Glass-shard armed woman arrested after threatening police

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Colorado Springs Police Department Officers arrested a woman on Thursday afternoon, July 4 after she armed herself with a glass shard and threatened officers.

Officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of North Chestnut Street for a disturbance, the suspect was damaging the property of a local business, and then attempted to assault employees with large shards of glass. She had informed the employees she would “kill police” if they responded.

Upon officers’ arrival, the suspect, 36-year-old Kayla Hofer, armed herself with the shards of glass and refused to follow commands.

Hofer was tased and then taken into custody. She is booked at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center (CJC) for three counts of assault on a peace officer in the first degree, attempted assault in the first degree, three counts of felony menacing, and criminal mischief.
