Groundbreaking ceremony for Carnegie Library expansion

(MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo.) — On Friday morning, Jan. 19 a groundbreaking ceremony was held at the Carnegie Library in Manitou Springs for its building remodel and expansion project.

The project is aimed at preserving the historical significance of the Carnegie Library while making the space more accessible to all. A combination of community donations, grants, and partnerships with organizations has helped to fund the project, according to the City of Manitou Springs.

The event was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Friday with speeches from local leaders in the community, followed by a ‘turning of the sod’ and then a celebration.

The City said donations are still needed as the project is at 95% of funding.
