(EL PASO COUNTY) —The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) is currently on scene of a HAZMAT incident near Highway 24 and Red Rock Canyon Trail.

At around 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, CSFD reported that a building located at 104 Lois Lane, listed as Garden of the Gods Nursing and Rehabilitation, was evacuated as a precaution. The fire department said initial information was that “chemicals were improperly mixed and the vapor from the chemicals possibly spread to air vents.”

Two patients have been taken to the hospital for minor respiratory illness, and a third person was treated on scene.

A preliminary investigation did not come up with any readings, however, HAZMAT techs are on scene and going into the building to assess further.
