DENVER (KDVR) — Contacting members of the U.S. Congress is one of the best things Americans can do to raise awareness for needs in the community.
The U.S. Congress includes 10 people representing the state of Colorado; two in the Senate and eight in the House of Representatives. After the 2024 elections, Colorado’s representatives include six Democrats and four Republicans.
If you want to get involved in contacting your representative about legislation, or to raise a concern or community need, here’s how you can find and contact your local representative.
Finding your local Colorado representative
The two U.S. senators representing Colorado are Michael Bennet and John Hickenlooper, both Democrats. The Coloradans in the House represent eight congressional districts across the state.
Denver is in the 1st Congressional District, much of the Western Slope is in the 3rd Congressional District, and much of the Eastern Plains is in the 4th Congressional District.
Here is a map of the districts and their areas:
There are eight Congressional Districts in the state of Colorado, each with its own elected representative in the U.S. House. Map shows new districts as prepared by the Colorado Independent Redistricting Commission.
If you are unsure which district you fall in based on the map, you can use the government’s online tool and enter your address to find who represents you. Additionally, many representatives have fields on their websites where Coloradans can enter their ZIP code to see if they fall in that representative’s district.
