(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) is asking the community for help trying to save two severely emaciated dogs that came in to the shelter as strays.

According to HSPPR, the two dogs were brought in to the shelter earlier in January within hours of each other, and both were “extremely emaciated.” HSPPR said Reggie, a black and white terrier mix, and Willow, a six-month-old lab mix, came in incredibly weak, showing signs of starvation and dehydration.

HSPPR is asking the community for help raising funds for the urgent medical care and recovery that Reggie and Willow will need. You can donate through HSPPR’s fundraiser by clicking here.

Reggie is currently being fostered by one of the humane society’s staff, and is on a re-feeding regimen until he gets strong enough to be put up for adoption. He still needs frequent veterinary care like bloodwork, and HSPPR said that’s where community donations can directly benefit animals in need.

HSPPR said both Reggie and Willow were brought in as admissions by good Samaritans, and encourages anyone who finds a dog that is clearly in trouble as these two were, to bring them in for emergency care during daytime hours or contact animal law enforcement after hours.
