DENVER (KDVR) — A crash closed Interstate 25 in Douglas County near Castle Rock on Tuesday night.

As of 8:36 p.m., the roadway was closed from Tomah Road (Exit 174) to Plum Creek Parkway (Exit 181), according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

The agency showed the roadway was closed in both directions for the crash.

Snow was accumulating on portions of I-25 in Douglas County, as well as further north near 136th Avenue in Thornton. The weather was causing issues for drivers across the metro.

As of 8:45 p.m., it was unclear what had led to the crash. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office shared that multiple crashes were reported in the area, but that the crashes were under the purview of the Colorado State Patrol.

One viewer on Interstate 76, where a crash was also reported, told FOX31’s Ashley Michels that it felt like white-out conditions at the time.

FOX31 has a crew on the way to the scene. When information is provided, such as the number of vehicles involved, if there are any injuries, the extent of the road closure and a potential cause for the crash, this article will be updated.
