DENVER (KDVR) — The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday night that Interstate 25 was closed near South County Line Road.
The agency said that multiple semitrucks had jackknifed in the area due to low visibility.
The Colorado Department of Transportation reported that both directions of I-25 were closed in the area. Later, the agency said that I-25 southbound and northbound were closed from Exit 182 in Castle Rock to Woodmoor, or milepost 181 to milepost 163.
Castle Rock Police Department said it was on accident alert as of 8:40 p.m., asking drivers who are involved in crashes without injury, without disabled vehicles and without any evidence of DUI to exchange insurance information and file a report online with the Colorado State Patrol.
Elbert County Schools also said it would be closed Wednesday due to the weather.
Interstate 70 was also impacted by the weather. At about 9:54 p.m., CDOT said the roadway was closed between E-470 and U.S. 24 near Limon, or from milepost 292 to milepost 359.
This is a developing story. As more information is gathered, it will be updated.
