(MANITOU SPRINGS) — The City of Manitou Springs is warning locals and visitors to expect delays on Friday as crews work to clear the snow from city streets. Additionally, the Incline and its online reservation system is closed until Monday, March 18.
In a series of updates, the City said that all city facilities would be closed on Friday, and downtown deliveries from large trucks were highly discouraged due to poor road conditions. The City asked businesses and other community members to postpone deliveries, as the snow pileup in the center lane, where trucks usually park to deliver, posed a high risk of trucks becoming stuck.
The City also asked locals to be patient as crews work to clear snow from roadways, and to expect delays on Manitou Avenue from Old Mans Trail to the Ruxton Avenue roundabout. The City said the delays are necessary to remove the large snow piles in the center lane to better facilitate emergency access.
Delays should be expected into Friday evening. Expect to see City crews downtown over the next several days as they ensure storm drains are clear for the anticipated snow runoff.
In addition to the work being done to clear Manitou roadways, the Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services department said the Incline and its online reservation system would be closed until Monday at 6 a.m.
If you see a tree has fallen due to the heavy snow, the City of Manitou Springs asks that you report it to the Public Works Hotline at (719) 685-2639, or go online to ManitouSpringsGov.com/SeeClickFix.
If a tree has fallen and caused property damage (vehicle, fence, roof, etc.), take pictures for insurance before removal. If you see power line issues, report these to Colorado Springs Utilities: (719) 448-4800, option 1.
“Thank you for your patience while we clear our main arterial roadways first,” the City said. “We will continue to make progress into neighborhood streets throughout the next couple of days.”
