(MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo.) — The Manitou Incline will be closed to the public on Sunday, July 21 for an event, and will not reopen until Monday morning.
According to Colorado Springs Parks, the Incline will be closed for the Barr Trail Mountain Race all day Sunday. According to the event’s website, the race is one of the Front Range’s historic summer mountain running events.
The 12.6-mile course begins at the Cog Railway Station in Manitou Springs, ascends Pikes Peak’s iconic Barr Trail to Barr Camp before turning, descending and finishing at the Barr Trailhead. The Barr Trail Mountain Race is operated under a special use permit from the Pike National Forest.
Colorado Springs Parks said the Incline will reopen at 6 a.m. on Monday, July 22 for normal operating hours.
