Ingrid Andress’ national anthem comeback at Colorado Avalanche game

(COLORADO) — “We’re back baby. Thank you Colorado Avalanche,” wrote country singer and four-time Grammy nominee, Ingrid Andress, on social media after singing the national anthem before the puck dropped at the Avalanche and Minnesota Wild game at Denver’s Ball Arena on Friday night, Feb. 28.

The last time Andress posted to social media before Friday was on July 16, 2024, when she stated that she was checking herself into a facility to get help. “I’ll let y’all know how rehab is,” she wrote. “I hear it’s super fun.” The post came after Andress performed the national anthem at the 2024 Home Run Derby, which quickly went viral and sparked criticism on social media.

“I’m not gonna bulls— y’all, I was drunk last night. I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need,” she wrote previously. “I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition.”

In Friday’s performance captured on the singer’s Instagram, Andress, who was back in her home town of Colorado, was seen wearing an Avalanche jersey before she sang “The Star-Spangled Banner.” At times in the video, the crowd is heard cheering and singing along, before Andress was given a big round of applause. She was seen exiting the video with a huge smile and ran excitedly backstage.

Andress was quickly praised by her fans and the community with several writing under the post about the courage the singer displayed.

“This was really brave,” one person wrote. “People can recover.”

“Super proud of you to come out swinging for the fences and hitting it out of the park,” another person on Instagram said. “Looking forward to your future, always a pleasure to hear your voice.”

“This makes me so happy! Who doesn’t love a great comeback story?!” another said. “You are so talented and brave.”

According to the Associated Press (AP), Andress, 33, “began her career as a Nashville songwriter, penning songs for performers across genres, including Bebe Rexha’s “Girl in the Mirror,” Halestorm’s “Conflicted,” and the critically acclaimed “Boys,” which became an international hit for British singer Charli XCX.”

Andress released her debut album “Lady Like” in 2020 after she signed a deal with Warner Music Nashville and Atlantic Records, according to the AP. Popular songs released by Andress include “More Hearts Than Mine” and “Wishful Drinking,” a collaboration with singer Sam Hunt.
