Jurassic Quest comes to Colorado Springs

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A big attraction for kids and families of all ages took over Colorado Springs this week. Jurrasic Quest, a traveling dinosaur experience attracted hundreds of families eager to explore real fossils and life-like dinosaurs that kids can ride, face-painting, and more.

“I like the T-Rex, Raptor, and Scorpions,” said Mossaih Coffman, a five-year-old dinosaur fanatic at Sunday’s event.

Families of all ages gathered at the Colorado Springs Event Center to learn the vast knowledge of all things dinosaurs. According to a Jurassic Quest spokesperson, it’s the number one dinosaur experience in North America attracting people worldwide.

“So we have the fossils. We have real fossils that are exclusive to Jurassic Quest, and we have cast the fossils that kids can learn about. We also have a microscope station where you can look at fossils through a microscope, so it’s pretty cool,” said Bracahio O’Brian, a dinosaur trainer with Jurassic Quest.

The event offers everything from fossil digging, life-size mechanical dinos, bouncy castles, discovery opportunities, and more.

“There are a lot of things we’re still learning about dinosaurs. A lot of people don’t know that a lot of dinosaurs had feathers, and we’re just learning that recently. The velociraptors in the movies are really big and scary, but in reality, they’re only about the height of a turkey,” said O’Brien.

FOX21 News spoke to one little girl at the event who told us that she was having so much fun that she was going to spend the rest of the night hiding inside a life-size dinosaur’s mouth.

Mossiah’s love for dinosaurs began at the ripe age of two years old, he told FOX21 News his favorite part of the day was spending time in one of the sandboxes looking for fossils.

“We come here every year that they have it because of him, because of his fascination. I think my favorite part is just watching him point out the fossils and being able to identify them because I think that’s just incredible,” said Matilda Coffman, Mossaih’s mom.

Although little Mossaih is still learning how to read books, he learns about the historic creatures through TV and his toys.

“I don’t know how to read a book,” he said.

But that does not stop him from learning and exploring about the unique creatures.

“It’s nice because if I give him the remote, I know exactly what he’s going to go for on the TV, and I know it’s something that is going to enrich his mind,” said his mom.
