(COLORADO SPRINGS) — According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), on Saturday, Nov. 30, officers located a suspect wanted for violent felony charges connected with a domestic violence incident, and who had a history of carrying firearms. With the help of K9 Riggs, CSPD officers successfully arrested the suspect.
Around 6:30 p.m., when officers arrived at the 4300 block of East Pikes Peak Avenue, near East Platte Avenue and North Murray Boulevard, they tried to interact with the suspect, who had a gun in his waistband. The suspect jumped from a second-story window and ran, according to CSPD.
CSPD said K9 Officer Lofgren warned the suspect to stop, or a police K9 would be sent after him. When the suspect refused to cooperate, K9 Riggs was released and successfully caught him.
According to CSPD, the suspect got minor injuries from the struggle with K9 Riggs and was taken to the hospital for treatment, after which he was booked into the Criminal Justice Center. Officers recovered a stolen firearm from the suspect during the incident.
