DENVER (KDVR) — The Kansas City Chiefs flight to Denver was delayed, according to Nexstar affiliate station FOX4 in Kansas City.
FlightAware shows the flight was expected to depart around 1:37 p.m. MT.
However, shortly after at 1:49 p.m. MT, the Kansas City International Airport said its airfield was shut down due to rapid ice accumulation in a post on X. KCI said the de-icing machine at the airport is currently not functioning.
The Denver Broncos are set to play the Chiefs in their final game of the regular season, a game that may require a win or tie for the Broncos to advance to the postseason.
The Broncos face off against the Chiefs at 2:25 p.m. on Sunday.
As of 5:00 p.m., the flight is airborne and heading to Denver, according to FlightAware.
