Kitten rescued with broken leg, gains regal name

(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — On Wednesday, July 31 the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region shared the story of a kitten brought into the shelter with hardships that HSPPR said he showed bravery in overcoming.

According to HSPPR, Cheese Emperor was five weeks old when he was found in a field with multiple fractures in his leg. HSPPR said the leg couldn’t be saved but Cheese was only five weeks old and not even one pound, it was too early for amputation surgery.

Cheese was placed in foster care with a veterinary team member until he was over eight weeks old and gained at least another pound. It took six weeks for Cheese to be ready for major surgery, but HSPPR said he had learned not to rely on his injured leg and was a tripod expert when the surgery occurred.
