Lake Pueblo hiker rescued after passerby heard her screaming

(PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo.) — An injured hiker was airlifted to a Colorado Springs hospital after she reportedly fell off a cliff at Lake Pueblo State Park on Friday, Jan. 31.

According to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO), its Emergency Services and Search and Rescue as well as crews from the Pueblo West Fire Department, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW), AMR and Flight for Life responded to a hiker who had fallen on Friday afternoon.

PCSO said a passerby heard screaming and immediately contacted CPW. Responders went in on foot to locate the fallen hiker and brought her to a waiting helicopter, which transported her to a hospital in Colorado Springs. PCSO said the hiker suffered serious injuries.

PCSO praised the work of emergency crews, saying it was “Great teamwork by all involved in treacherous rescue.”
