LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Las Vegas police announced Tuesday there will be a news conference at 1 p.m. to release more information on the bombing that happened in front of the Las Vegas Trump hotel on New Year’s Day.
(Live streaming coverage of the news conference will be carried on 8newsnow.com and can be watched in this story, or on Facebook, or X.)
Matthew Livelsberger, 37, shot himself in the head just before fireworks and other explosive material detonated in the back of a Tesla Cybertruck parked at the front entrance of the hotel. Livelsberger, a Green Beret in the U.S. Army Special Forces, was home on leave in Colorado Springs when he rented the Cybertruck and drove to Las Vegas.
During a news conference last week, law enforcement said Livelsberger likely suffered from PTSD. LVMPD Asst. Sheriff Dori Koren said a variety of “grievances and issues, some political, some personal” were found in letters discovered in a note-taking app on one of Livelsberger’s phones. Police said there was still a lot of data to go through.
FBI Special Agent In Charge Spencer Evans said there’s no indication as to why Livelsberger chose to park in front of Trump International Tower. He added that Livelsberger didn’t hold any animosity toward President-elect Donald Trump or Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
