LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Las Vegas Metropolitan police said there will be a news conference at 1 p.m. Pacific Time to release additional details on the explosion that occurred on New Year’s Day at the entrance doors to the Las Vegas International Trump Hotel.
Police officially identified Matthew Livelsberger as the driver of a Tesla Cybertruck filled with firework mortars and fuel canisters. Livelsberger died from a gunshot wound to the head just before the explosion.
Authorities say there are still questions about why he chose that car and location.
“It’s not lost on us that it’s in front of the Trump building, that it’s a Tesla vehicle, but we don’t have information at this point that definitively tells us or suggests it was because of this particular ideology,” Spencer Evans, the Las Vegas FBI’s special agent in charge, said Thursday at a news conference.
The news conference will be streamed live in this story. Check back for updates.
