Live updates: 250-acre Alexander Mountain Fire growing west of Loveland

DENVER (KDVR) — A wildfire is burning west of Loveland near Highway 34 in Larimer County, officials reported, named the Alexander Mountain Fire.

The fire was reported shortly before noon. As of 12:45 p.m., the U.S. Forest Service reported the fire was at 247 acres.

The sheriff’s office is handling evacuations. Highway 34 was closed between County Road 29 and County Road 43. Fort Collins Police Services told citizens that resources are en route to the fire, and calling 911 to report the fire is no longer necessary.

Smoke could be seen from the fire for miles.
