Man arrested after allegedly pulling gun during road rage incident on I-25

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — A man has been arrested after an alleged road rage shooting on I-25 in northern El Paso County on Monday, Oct. 13.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO), dispatchers received a 911 call just after 7:30 p.m. on Monday from a caller reporting they had been shot at while driving northbound on I-25 in northern El Paso County. The caller was able to provide a detailed description of the suspect’s car, as well as the license plate number as the car was leaving El Paso County and entering Douglas County.

EPSO said officers with the Castle Rock Police Department were able to locate the car and pull it over. The driver, 60-year-old Allen Casias, was detained, and a pistol was found in his possession.

EPSO deputies responded to Castle Rock and interviewed Casias, who admitted to pulling the gun during a road rage incident.

Casias was taken into custody and transported back to El Paso County where he is being held in the El Paso County Jail on a $2,000 bond for felony menacing.

“There is absolutely no excuse for road rage. It endangers innocent lives,” said El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “Brandishing or discharging a firearm on our roadways is an act of recklessness that will be met with zero tolerance. I commend our deputies and the Castle Rock Police Department for their quick coordination in ensuring this violent and irresponsible behavior was stopped before anyone was seriously harmed.”
