(CAÑON CITY, Colo.) — A man in Cañon City is facing a slew of charges after allegedly threatening people at a restaurant with a weapon, taking a woman’s purse, and verbally confronting numerous guests including children.
According to the Cañon City Police Department (CCPD), officers responded to the El Caporal Restaurant on Main Street in Cañon City shortly after 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 6 on a report of a person with a weapon. Officers interviewed witnesses and determined the suspect, 64-year-old Patrick Feeney, had brandished a gun, disarmed another patron of their weapon, taken a woman’s purse, and verbally confronted multiple guests of the restaurant, which included two children.
After investigation, officers took Feeney into custody, at which point CCPD said he became uncooperative. Despite his resistance, Feeney was booked into the Fremont County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond, and is facing a slew of charges:
Multiple counts of prohibited use of weapons
Unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon
False imprisonment
Reckless endangerment
Obstructing a peace officer
Felony menacing
Aggravated robbery
Child abuse (two counts)
Police Chief John Schick commended the swift actions of responding officers and thanked the restaurant staff for promptly calling for help.
“The timely response from the staff, combined with the officers’ professionalism, played a crucial role in preventing the situation from becoming something far more tragic,” CCPD said.
