Man arrested in Pueblo after firing gun into the air

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — A 27-year-old man was arrested on Sunday, July 28, after a ShotSpotter alert notified police of shots fired, and it was later revealed that the suspect had fired shots into the air after an argument with a woman.

According to the Pueblo Police Department (PPD), officers responded on July 28 shortly before 7:45 a.m. to a ShotSpotter alert in the 800 block of East 4th Street, on Pueblo’s east side. When officers arrived, they found two spent .380 caliber shell casings.

PPD said video footage was obtained showing a man arguing with a woman, before the man fired a gun into the air.

Around 9 p.m. the same day, a caller reported that the male suspect was once again in the area. Officers responded, and PPD said they were able to locate the man with the help of the Real Time Crime Center.

The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Matthew Arnette, and he was still in possession of the gun when police found him. Arnette was arrested and booked on charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Concealed Weapon.
