Man recovering from frostbite after being ‘left for dead’

DENVER (KDVR) — A Washington-state man is recovering from frostbite after he said he was dumped in the middle of the night by two men.

Ryu “Max” Maxwell said he was in town for work when on Sunday, he stopped by a popular Littleton arcade to relax and unwind.

The 21-year-old said he made friends with two males, who ultimately offered to drive him back to his hotel. Maxwell admitted he doesn’t remember much more due to alcohol consumption.

The next thing he did remember — being discovered by a “good samaritan” in frigid temperatures and rushed to UCHealth in Aurora, where he would spend nearly a week.

“It’s just a really sketch situation,” he said.

For the time being, relegated to a wheelchair, Maxwell is recovering from frostbite to his hands, as well as injuries to his arms and buttocks.

He and his mother said a police report has been filed with the Littleton Police Department. However, after contacting the Littleton Police Department, FOX31 was told that the incident may have occurred in unincorporated Jefferson County.

Maxwell is now headed back to Washington State for a second opinion on his recovery. He is thankful for the person who found him and hopes the two men involved are caught.

“I hope those two get found,” he said. “’Cause it’s not okay to leave somebody in the snow.”
