(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported a crash near Fremont Park on Wednesday evening, Sept. 25 that left one injured.

CSPD responded to a single-vehicle crash at approximately 3:40 p.m. in the area of Union Boulevard and El Capitan Drive, just north of North Academy Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers discovered AMR and CSFD crews were on scene rendering aid to the motorcycle rider.

At 4:40 p.m., CSPD said via X (formerly known as Twitter), that all southbound lanes of Union were closed at El Capitan Drive and asked motorists to avoid the area.

The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Due to the nature of the crash and injuries, the Major Crash team was contacted and assumed the investigation.

At the moment, CSPD said it is unknown if alcohol or speed were involved in the crash. No other vehicles appear to have been involved in the crash.
