“It could be years since someone has been interviewed for a job, particularly military members transitioning out of service,” said Jon Dix, director of transition and employment services at Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center. “Sometimes, it’s a young dependent who needs help landing that first role. We also know that military spouses are underemployed because of the frequent moves and the absence of a professional network, so we help there as well. Our goal is to provide all the tools military families need to find meaningful work, so if you are job hunting, come see us.”

In addition to job fairs, Mt. Carmel offers help creating federal and civilian-style resumes, as well as developing interview and networking skills.

“Mt. Carmel is proud to celebrate 10 years of serving our military and veteran community,” said Dix. “In the past decade, we’ve developed key resources and partnerships that help make finding a job easier. Thanks to this collaborative effort, we have successfully filled 4,700 positions.”

The next job fair is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 30 at the center’s headquarters, located at 530 Communication Circle, near West Cimarron Street and South 8th Street.

In addition to employment assistance, Mt. Carmel offers behavioral health services, finance classes, and basic needs support for those facing housing and food insecurity.
