(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — Multiple law enforcement agencies executed an arrest warrant on Thursday, Feb. 22 for a man accused of Sexual Assault on a Child by One in a Position of Trust.
According to the Manitou Springs Police Department (MSPD), 57-year-old James Walter was taken into custody without incident around 5 p.m. on Thursday near Interquest Parkway, on the north side of Colorado Springs.
MSPD said the arrest was the result of an extensive investigation, and the arrest was made with the help of the Colorado Springs Police Department and Monument Police Department. Walter was arrested on numerous felony charges, including Sexual Assault on a Child by One in a Position of Trust (victim 15-18), two counts of Sexual Assault on a Child by One in a Position of Trust (victim under 15), Pattern of Sexual Assault on a Child by One in a Position of Trust, and Second Degree Assault.
Walter is currently being held without bond in the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
“We understand that this information may create many questions and concerns for the Manitou Springs community,” said MSPD in a press release. The department added that in order to protect the integrity of the investigation, and the identities of the victims, no further information will be released.
