Multiple CSPD K9s receive donations of body armor

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said three K9s have received bullet and stab-protective vests thanks to charitable donations from the community, provided by a non-profit organization.

According to CSPD, K9s Blue, Loki, and Nyx have received the vests thanks to Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a charity whose mission is to provide vests and other resources to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the U.S.

K9 Loki’s vest was sponsored by Laura and Tom Kelecy of Colorado Springs and embroidered with the sentiment “Gifted by Laura and Tom Kelecy in K9 Britta’s Memory.”

K9 Blue’s vest was sponsored by Tim and Jenni Brown and is embroidered with “In honor of protecting all that serve and protect.”

K9 Nyx’s vest was sponsored by the Family (Jensen, Hudson, Winkler, Wells), Friends, and Colleagues of CSPD Detective Jared S. Jensen and embroidered with “In honor of Detective Jared S. Jensen.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount, while a single donation of $1,050 will sponsor one vest.
