DENVER (KDVR) — Multiple agencies from the Denver Metro area showed their support for a firefighter and engineer who was injured in the deadly ambush in Idaho on June 29.
The ambush was on Canfield Mountain in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, which left two firefighters dead and one injured.
The injured Coeur d’Alene firefighter, Dave Tysdal, was shot in the back during the ambush. After being shot, Tysdal is said to have helped save the lives of other first responders by warning them to stay away from the area, stated the Coeur d’Alene Fire Department in a post to Facebook.

The fire department also said, “Tysdal’s injuries include a collapsed lung, shattered ribs, and spinal swelling. He has not been able to move his legs since the shooting, but started voluntarily moving the toes on his left foot on Sunday.”
Tysdal was sent off from a hospital in Coeur d’Alene to be transferred to a “rehab hospital” in Colorado to continue his recovery.
South Metro Fire Rescue posted a video of Tysdal’s arrival at the Centennial Airport, where the multiple agencies from Denver can be seen welcoming and clapping for Tysdal.
