Several were in attendance at the groundbreaking ceremony, including Mayor Yemi Mobolade, Colorado Congressman Jeff Crank, and members of the museum board of directors.

“It’s a continuation of the proud military history of the Pikes Peak Region,” said Congressman Crank (CO-05). “Simply put, this museum is in the perfect home, right here.”

The expansion, which is set to be completed in Spring 2026, will bring the existing aircraft display hangar to 80,000 square feet.

“This museum doesn’t just display artifacts, it brings history to life,” said Mayor Mobolade. “Behind every plane is a pilot with a story, behind every mission is a family who prayed, and behind every victory is a generation who believed in something greater than themselves. The expansion we celebrate today will open the door for more people to hear these stories.”
