Nine sets of twins to graduate from Pueblo Central

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — Some things in life are rare–like the odds of having twins. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) says it happens in around three of every 100 pregnancies. But at Central High School in Pueblo, you will find not one, not two, but nine sets of twins in the class of 2025.

Some of the twins just learned recently during their graduation practice walk.

“I knew we have a lot throughout the school too, but I didn’t know there was just nine, just our class. It was crazy to find out,” said Central High Senior Genaro Pino.

Some did have an idea there were several twins in their grade through high school. Ava and Ala LeDoux said they grew up with one of the other pairs of twins.

“When we first got to Central, we only knew Sylvia and Elaine because we knew them when we were little,” Ava said.

But some actually found out when putting together the yearbook–that’s how Amya Russell learned there were more pairs of twins in her grade than she thought.

“I was just going through everyone’s pictures, and I just started telling the parents, I was like ‘woah it just kept coming in,'” Russell said.

Each pair of twins is different and have their own unique stories to tell. Ava and Ala said they did it by switching up their class schedules day by day.

“Because we’re identical, we get to switch classes and people don’t know,” Ava said.

Elaine and Sylvia Tennant also had their confusing twin moment during a volleyball game.

“There was a game we actually switched shirts, so we went for the wrong twin and they’re like, excuse me, that number is not supposed to be out there,” Elaine said.

Each pair of twins experienced high school differently, accomplished various feats and all have different paths for life after. But no matter where life takes them, they will always say two is better than one.

“The fact I think that we all knew each other and that all of us are twins is insane,” said Sylvia.

All of the twins have one more moment together as they walk at graduation on Friday, May 23, before they go their separate ways.
