Nuggets confirm Adelman as head coach after interim stint

DENVER (KDVR) — The Denver Nuggets are sticking with a familiar face and announced that the team’s head coaching search was short-lived, and interim head coach David Adelman will be losing the interim title and taking on head coaching duties full time, according to AP News.

While Adelman was the betting favorite to assume the mantle, it may be a surprise to see the position filled so quickly.

The Nuggets could have used the summer to field candidates for the position, but after a short spell, which included three wins in the last three regular-season games and being one win away from the Western Conference Finals in the playoffs, Adelman delivered enough to win over the executives of the franchise.

Adelman spent time with the Minnesota Timberwolves as a player development coach and head coach for the Summer League team. He then departed for the Orlando Magic, where he was an assistant coach for a year, before joining the Nuggets as an assistant coach in 2017.

He continued in that position until being instated as the interim head coach after the firing of Michael Malone, late in the 2024-25 NBA season.
