(COLORADO SPRINGS) — An officer with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) was treated for minor injuries after a suspect allegedly assaulted the officer during an arrest.
According to CSPD, shortly before 10 a.m. on Friday, July 26, officers responded to a trespassing call in the 200 block of East Cimarron Street, near the intersection with South Nevada Avenue. CSPD said the suspect had caused damage to property, and was known to trespass at the location. When officers arrived, the suspect was not immediately located.
About half an hour later, the officer who responded to the trespassing call found the suspect in the 200 block of South Cascade Avenue and tried to contact the suspect. The suspect tried to run, and in the process, assaulted the officer, CSPD said.
The suspect, later identified as Alexander Bucspun, was taken into custody after the arrival of additional officers. Bucspun was taken to the hospital for medical clearance before being booked into jail. The officer who was assaulted was also taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
