(CAÑON CITY, Colo.) — The Cañon City Police Department (CCPD) is looking for a second suspect in a string of car break-ins and thefts that happened throughout December on the north side of Cañon City.
According to CCPD, between Dec. 10 and Dec. 23, police received numerous calls for car trespassing complaints involving theft from cars on the north side. Officers and detectives were able to identify two suspects in the case and obtain arrest warrants for both. One of the men, 21-year-old Anthony Watson, was subsequently arrested.
Watson was arrested on a slew of charges, including:
First degree criminal trespass (18 counts)
Attempt to commit first degree criminal trespass (27 counts)
Conspiracy (two counts)
Theft (two counts)
Unauthorized use of a financial transaction device (three counts)
Identity theft
Identity theft for possession of more than 3+ financial devices
Cybercrime
The highest charge Watson is accused of committing is a Class 4 Felony. CCPD said Watson was
already in custody at the time his warrant was obtained and is now held in lieu of a $10,000.00
cash/surety bond.
The other suspect, 18-year-old Thomas Mikesell, has an active warrant for his arrest on the following charges:
First degree criminal trespass
Attempt to commit first degree criminal trespass (32 counts)
Conspiracy (two counts)
Theft (two counts)
CCPD asks anyone with information on Mikesell’s whereabouts is asked to contact police. Tips can be submitted to Fremont County Crime Stoppers at (719) 276-STOP (7867) or online.
Tips that lead to an arrest could be eligible for a cash reward from Crime Stoppers, up to $1,000.
