El PASO COUNTY, COLO – Colorado State Patrol is investigating a deadly crash in El Paso County.

It happened around 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning in the area of Elbert Road and Highway 24.

Troopers say a car was driving west when it drifted into the opposite lane and collided with a truck heading east.

The car’s driver, a 34-year-old man from Colorado Springs, was died at the scene. Troopers say he was not wearing a seatbelt.

The truck’s driver was seriously hurt and was taken to a hospital for their injuries.

Troopers say alcohol and speed are not suspected factors in the crash.
