Palmer High School evacuated for fire in mechanical room

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Students were evacuated from Palmer High School on Thursday afternoon, April 3 due to a fire in a mechanical room, according to the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD).

CSFD posted about the fire shortly after 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, and said students had been evacuated from the building and that Weber Street was closed from Boulder Street to Platte Avenue while crews responded. The road has since reopened.

CSFD said the fire was contained to a fan in the mechanical room, and added that students would be allowed back into the building soon. Fire investigators are on scene working with staff to reset the fire alarm at the school, CSFD said. The cause is under investigation.
