(PUEBLO, Colo.) — On Friday, Dec. 1, Parkview Medical Center and Parkview Pueblo West Hospital join UCHealth’s statewide network of hospitals and clinics.
Parkview Medical Center said it has provided care for 100 years and will continue to do so as part of the UCHealth system. Parkview’s staff, providers, and leaders will retain their positions, ensuring a smooth transition for patients.
UCHealth will invest nearly $200 million over the next ten years into Parkview and the Pueblo community, including a $5 million donation to the Parkview Foundation, to establish a long-term fund to support patients, the community, and the hospital. Parkview Medical Center said the investments will stabilize Parkview’s finances to continue the services offered today.
“We are excited to welcome Parkview and its talented providers and staff to the UCHealth family,” said Elizabeth B. Concordia, UCHealth president and CEO. “Both organizations have similar values and work every day to meet the health care needs of our patients by delivering care close to home. Our partnership will ensure the residents of southern Colorado continue to receive the high-quality health care they deserve.”
The new hospitals will be known as UCHealth Parkview Medical Center and UCHealth Parkview Pueblo West Hospital. The two hospitals will add to the 12 acute-care hospitals in the state.
“Today marks the beginning of the next chapter for Parkview. We couldn’t be more thrilled to now be part of UCHealth,” said Darrin Smith, president and CEO of Parkview Health System. “With a team of almost 3,000 staff and providers, we reaffirm our commitment to our patients, our community, and our region to deliver patient-centered care.”
