(COLORADO SPRINGS) — What was initially reported to police as a shooting at the Walmart on East Platte Avenue in Colorado Springs resulted in one person being taken to the hospital with serious injuries from a stabbing.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), dispatch received a call shortly after 2:15 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17 reporting that someone was firing a gun inside the Walmart. An extra duty officer who was on scene quickly refuted that claim, though the officer confirmed that there was a disturbance between two people.

CSPD said the disturbance resulted in one of the people suffering an apparent stab wound. More officers responded and detained a person on the scene. The person who was stabbed was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, though CSPD said it is unknown if those injuries are life-threatening.

The disturbance appears to have been an isolated incident, and CSPD said there is no threat to the community or anyone else in the store.
