DENVER (KDVR) – The Olympic Games just kicked off last week, and some Coloradans have already found worldwide success.
So far, five Coloradans have competed as of Monday morning. Lindsey Horan, Mallory Swanson and Sophia Smith hit the pitch on Thursday, July 25 and Sunday, July 28, playing and winning against Zambia and Germany.
Meanwhile, Derrick White faced off against Nikola Jokic, finding a win against Serbia on Sunday, but another loss for the Joker’s fan club.
Rylan Kissell competed for the Shooting 10m Air Rifle Men’s Qualification.

USA vs. Zambia: Swanson scores twice

Mallory Swanson from Highlands Ranch put in the first and third goal of the United States debut at the Olympics. She started and ended the first win, with Team USA finishing off the match 3-0 against Zambia.
White vs. Jokic

The matchup between the Boston Celtics’ Derrick White and Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic was back on screen on Sunday, except this time (most) Coloradans are rooting for Derrick White from Parker. Despite Jokic being titled Most Valuable Player for the NBA, he was no match for Team USA, who ended up winning 110-84.

Another Coloradan scored big in the United States’ second game on Sunday. Sophia Smith from Windsor put in the first goal, which eventually landed the team a 4-1 lead against Germany. Team USA is now onto the quarterfinals. Smith scored twice and Swanson put in another goal for the team.
Plenty of other Coloradans are still prepping for their time to shine.
This week, volleyball players Haleigh Washington and Jordyn Poulter are taking the court at 9 a.m. on Monday, while Canyib Barry with 3×3 basketball will be front in center on Tuesday afternoon.
