Pickleball Courts in Pueblo to receive LED Lights

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Pueblo Parks and Recreation will begin the installation of new lights at Mineral Palace Park on Tuesday, Aug. 13.

The new LED lights will be installed at the Pickleball Courts located at Mineral Palace Park. The installation is part of the lease/purchasing plan approved by Pueblo City Council earlier this year.

During the light installation process, the courts will remain closed. Signs will be posted to help communicate this with individuals.

“We know it can be inconvenient when we have to shut down a location temporarily, so we thank the public for their understanding as we work to update the Pickleball court facility with the new lights,” said Director of Pueblo Parks and Recreation Steven Meier.

The Pickleball Courts light pole installation is anticipated to be done by Thursday, Aug. 15, weather permitting.

The lights will be completed at a later date and Pueblo Parks and Recreation will keep the public informed of further information.

“We are excited to install the new LED lights at the Mineral Palace Park Pickleball Court facility,” said Meier. “These lights are a huge benefit to our vibrant pickleball community, and this has been a request since we opened the facility in September of 2022.”

Pueblo Parks and Recreation has eight Pickleball Courts located at Mineral Palace Park, which are free to the public during hours of operation from 7:30 a.m. until dusk. The light installation will allow for extended hours.

In addition, Pueblo Parks and Recreation offers sessions for Pickleball lessons and league play. Pickleball league includes a Monday evening recreational league and a Wednesday evening competitive league. This includes players 13 and older and is offered from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. Each session offered has a $20 fee for league play.
