(LA JUNTA, Colo.) — A pilot suffered minor injuries after a small plane crashed at the La Junta airport on Thursday, Oct. 2.
According to the La Junta Fire Department (LJFD), a small plane crashed shortly before 5:45 p.m. on Thursday at the La Junta Airport while attempting to perform a landing maneuver. LJFD said when emergency crews arrived, they found one person inside the plane conscious and alert.
The pilot was checked by EMS and taken to the hospital for minor injuries. The plane was checked to make sure it was not leaking fluids, and LJFD said it was stable.

The FAA and the NTSB were contacted, and the scene was turned over to the Otero County Sheriff’s Office.
