(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Officers with the Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) along with divisional HOT Subject Matter Experts (SME) officers responded to multiple complaints at Dorchester Park, near Downtown, and detained over 30 people.
On Tuesday, March 11, officers responded to the park located at 1130 South Nevada Avenue, regarding complaints of multiple illegal camps and trespassing occurring in the park. Officers arrived on scene and initially detained over 30 individuals.
During the investigation, police cited five individuals for trespassing and four for camping in parks, gave one waterway ticket, and two narcotics citations. Officers also cleared out one felony warrant and 16 misdemeanor warrants while transporting eight individuals to the Criminal Justice Center for warrants.
Park Rangers also hauled three truckloads of trash, one of which was a dump truck.
The Colorado Springs Police Department said another eight camps were posted for clean-up at a later date.
