(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Officers and hazardous materials (hazmat) crews responded on Thursday morning, May 23, to a business near Palmer Park after a letter was received containing a suspicious white powder.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), patrol officers and a hazmat crew with the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) responded just before 10:30 a.m. on Thursday to a business in the 2700 block of North Academy Boulevard, just east of Palmer Park.
CSPD said the business received a letter from an unknown sender that contained an unknown white powder. CSFD tested the powder, and it was determined to be a harmless substance.
CSPD said its agency has assumed the investigation, and it conducting interviews to develop leads on who sent or delivered the letter. No suspect information is available yet.
