(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Pueblo Police Department (PPD) released an update on a pair of crashes that happened in the early morning of Monday, March 4 that police say resulted in two fatalities.
According to PPD, on Monday at around 3:15 a.m. police were called to I-25 southbound near mile marker 96 about a motorcycle and person on the road. Officers found a man and moped in the roadway, and he was declared dead on the scene.
PPD said it believes based on limited information that the victim was hit from behind by another vehicle, PPD is continuing to investigate.
While investigators were on the scene at the motorcycle crash, police were called to a separate crash at around 7:45 a.m. involving a pickup truck hitting the back of a semi-truck on I-25 southbound near exit 97A or the McCulley Avenue exit.
When officers arrived they found the passenger of the pickup truck trapped inside the vehicle. According to PPD, life-saving measures were taken but the girl, a minor, died on the scene.
PPD said the Pueblo County Coroner will identify the victims after notifications. These are the 1st and 2nd traffic deaths in Pueblo in 2024, according to PPD.
