Polis wishes Colorado Olympians luck at 2024 Paris Olympics

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Governor Jared Polis wished all Colorado Olympians the best of luck at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Friday, July 19.

A few local Colorado Springs athletes made the cut for the 2024 Olympics, including:

Canyon Barry – 3×3 Basketball

Elizabeth Marks – Para Swimming

Jack O’Neil – Para Swimming

Leonard Korir – Track and Field

Hailey Danz – Para Triathlon

Melissa Stockwell – Para Triathlon

Haleigh Washington – Volleyball

Josh O’Neill – Wheelchair Rugby

“I wish all Coloradans who qualified to represent the United States at the 2024 Olympics the best of luck! Colorado continues to be a sports state whose hometown athletes are some of the best in the world,” said Polis. “Colorado’s high altitude, sunny weather, and outdoor recreational roots make us the best state in the nation to train and it shows. I and Coloradans will be watching and cheering you all on as you prove that the best athletes in the world come from right here in Colorado. Go for Gold!”

The 2024 Paris Olympics kick off on Wednesday, July 24. The Opening Ceremony will take place on Friday, July 26; taking place outside a stadium, for the first time.
