(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Poor Richard’s is planning to celebrate its 50th anniversary on June 8, 2025.
Poor Richard’s was founded by Richard Skorman in 1975 as Poor Richard’s Bookstore and became Poor Richard’s Feed and Read in 1977. The institution started as a bookstore and eatery and has since blossomed into a family of businesses with food, books, gifts, toys, coffee, wine, and community.
Poor Richard’s expanded in 1995 with the opening of Little Richard’s Toy Store, co-founded by Patricia Seator, Skorman’s wife and business partner. In 2005, the campus grew with the launch of Rico’s Café & Wine Bar.
On Sunday, June 8, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Poor Richard’s will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a day of activities:
Live music and entertainment
Special deals and giveaways
Kids’ activities in and around Little Richard’s Toy Store, including a bounce house and face painting
Kids’ story time with Richard and Patricia, and local author appearances
Free food and cake, and a retro food menu, including 10-cent coffee and 95-cent gazpacho
A look back at 50 years of photos, stories, and community impact
“This milestone is not just a celebration of our history—it’s a heartfelt thank you to our loyal customers, staff, and friends who have supported us for five incredible decades,” wrote Poor Richard’s.
