(CAÑON CITY, Colo.) — The Cañon City Police Department (CCPD) reported that officers are investigating a shooting that occurred in the area of the 2500 block of Main Street. The area is closed and people are asked to stay indoors.

According to CCPD, there is a heavy police presence in the area, and while there is no information to suggest any danger to the public, the area is shut down, and police are asking for the public to stay away or stay indoors out of an abundance of caution.

CCPD reported that the victim has non-life-threatening injuries.
