(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Pueblo Police Department (PPD) said a man was shot in the leg after refusing to give his shoes to four unidentified people on Wednesday, March 20.

PPD said on Wednesday, officers were called to the 1000 block of Minnequa Avenue near East Orman Avenue, about a shooting. When officers arrived, they met with a man and a woman, the man explained the two had been walking through Bessemer Park when a vehicle pulled up next to them.

Four people got out of the vehicle and demanded the man’s backpack and the woman’s purse. According to PPD, the suspects asked for the man’s shoes, but he refused and that caused the suspects to shoot him in the leg, according to PPD.
