(PUEBLO, Colo.) — A man has been arrested after what the Pueblo Police Department (PPD) called repeated burglary and property damage of a business in downtown Pueblo.
According to PPD, in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 9, and Friday, July 11, officers responded to reports of two separate burglaries of The Downtown Bar near the intersection of South Union Avenue and West City Center Drive.
Police got video of the suspect, and officers started searching for him. On Wednesday, July 16, during a routine patrol, officers identified Kevin Dixon as a man matching the description of the suspect and contacted him. PPD said during a check of Dixon’s name, police discovered two warrants for his arrest. The charges were Fugitive of Justice and Failure to Appear for original charges of Trespass II and Littering, with a total PR bond of $300.
Dixon was booked into the Pueblo County Detention Center on his warrants, but not the burglary and criminal mischief charges, according to PPD, as the suspect had not been identified. Once he was identified and booked for the previous warrants, police started working on preparing warrants related to the incidents at The Downtown Bar on July 9 and 11.
PPD said that due to the issuance of the PR bond for his initial offenses, Dixon was released from the detention center within three and a half hours. When the warrants in connection with the burglary and property damage were obtained, PPD officers started searching for him.
At around 2:30 a.m. on Friday, July 18, police found Dixon and he was arrested and booked into the detention center facing felony charges for two counts of Second-Degree Burglary, and two counts of Criminal Mischief (estimated damage of $7,000) with a $5,000 cash-only bond.
