PPSC student wins coffin race t-shirt design contest

(MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo.) — Voting has ended in the t-shirt design contest for the 30th annual Manitou Springs Emma Crawford Coffin Races, and a student at Pikes Peak State College has been named the winner with his fun and whimsical design.

According to the Manitou Springs Chamber of Commerce, winner Hector Medrano “captured the spirit and excitement of the Emma Crawford Coffin Races,” with a colorful design that melds the beautiful backdrop of Manitou Springs with the spooky tradition of the coffin races. Pre-orders for the t-shirt begin in September.

The 30th annual Emma Crawford Coffin Races will take place on Saturday, Oct. 26. The hearse and coffin parade will kick off at noon, immediately followed by the coffin races. Spectators are advised to arrive early to enjoy the festivities and ensure a prime viewing spot.

From 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., enjoy local food, drinks, vendors, as well as free entertainment from Manitou Springs local artists Family Elephant from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. in Soda Springs Park.
